I’m Nathan, the person behind this site. I’m a Brooklyn-based designer who entered the field after realizing there wasn’t much of a market for 100+ page essays about Herman Melville outside the academy. I approach my work as a way of thinking and not as a source of deliverables.

In addition to my design work, I also write regularly on this site’s blog about my thoughts and observations. Readers can expect musings on a list of topics too numerous to sensibly serialize (seriously, I tried, and the list was long even by my standards). While I give no promises, I’ll do my best to keep self-indulgent diatribes regarding design and the NBA to a semi-reasonable minimum.

When I’m not working, I spend my time reading my way through the canon, writing things that will probably never be part of said canon, obsessing over the perfect cup of coffee, layering sweaters on top of other sweaters, taking photos of the interesting things I see, reworking recipes to make them vegetarian, poring over every single NBA box score, scouring the internet for good new music, playing video games, walking around my neighborhood, and using sentences that have way too many words.

While you’re here, you should check out my portfolio or try out a few recipes my wife and I came up with. And if you like dresses with vintage details, you should take a look at my wife’s clothing label.
